Authorities, economic operators and media join forces to support new mechanisms to increase the absorption rate of European funds in 2014-2020

SIVECO experts have shared their expertise in developing projects financed through the Structural Funds within "European Funds 2014-2020” forum, held at the Palace of Parliament

The forum held at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest brought together representatives of operational programs management authorities, business environment and banking system to debate key questions of the public opinion: what's new in 2014-2020 budget, which are the opportunities and what has to be done to bring the absorption of European funds to a higher level? Which are programs where the EUR 21 billion allocated to Romania by European Union should go?

The current key challenges for Romania towards 2020, within the Competitiveness Operational Program, is to accelerate innovation through Research and Development; to foster the private business sector to innovate and to support the development of the human resources from Research – Development - Innovation (RDI) sector, orienting them towards sectors with potential growth.

SIVECO Romania has a department dedicated to the development and implementation of European projects and has significant expertise in deploying projects financed from Structural Funds, research projects and projects developed for organizations subordinated to European Commission.

"The projects financed from European funds, in which we participated in recent years, are creating skills for an inclusive society. They help reducing the digital gap and develop managerial and entrepreneurial skills for the people involved. We develop projects financed through Structural Funds in order to make the IT tools accessible to people. The projects developed through Sectorial Operational Program for Human Resources Development (POSDRU) have reached their targeted objectives: the development of human capital through promoting education and initial training and promoting entrepreneurship culture. The program facilitates access of vulnerable groups to education and supports the partnerships between public institutions, civil society, business environment and educational institutions", says Cristina Ițcuș, Head of Structural Funds Department, SIVECO Romania.

For the projects implemented by SIVECO and funded by the European Union, in 2013, the average budget absorption rate was of 91 %. 656 vocational courses were developed with significant social impact for 200,000 beneficiaries.

To these major achievements more than 20 projects developed for the organizations of the European Commission should be added: Publications Office of the European Union, General Directorate for Health and Consumers and the Executive Agency for Health and Consumers, Aviation Safety Agency, Eurostat and EuropeAid.

The projects implemented by SIVECO increase employment opportunities by improving specialization level of human resources, local development, economic and social development.

The debate from the Palace of Parliament brought together members of the government, management authorities, business environment, banking system and central and local public administration representatives.

At the event also attended representatives of the operational programs management authorities, representatives of banking system, consulting firms and representatives of companies that have deployed successful projects.
