2.000 pupils took part in the .Campion competition

The .Campion competition is the starting point for many future winners of national and international Olympiads

Bucharest, 05th of May - The passion for IT persuaded 2.000 pupils to voluntarily sign up for the 2009 .Campion competition - an intensive program for training in IT&C. After 12 rounds that alternated the training sessions with online competitions, there were selected the finalists. More than 60 pupils met in Bran for the final stage of the contest.

Because this year there were many pupils that achieved very high scores, the organizers invited for the final stage all the pupils that got over 1.000 points. The pupils from the small group (9th grade and gymnasium pupils) proved to be highly determined and very well trained, that is why the number of finalists surpassed the initial estimations.

The .Campion project supported by SIVECO Virtual Center for Excellency - initiated by SIVECO Romania in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation is a training program for performance in computer science, supported by well-known teachers.

The Competition, financed by SIVECO Romania, was initiated and is coordinated by Emanuela Cerchez and Marinel Serban, teachers at the IT High School "Grigore Moisil" Iasi. The organizers team included teachers from all around the country that created highly difficult problems for the contest, as well as students, previous winners of the .Campion competition and the National and International Olympiads, who offered continuous training for the participants of the competition.

"I admire the perseverance, determination and seriousness of these young people, who trained hard in the last 6 months to achieve high performances in IT. It is good to notice that over 80% of the finalists consider that the .Campion competition helps them very much for increasing their IT knowledge and supports them in training for other national and international contests. I am positive that in the next years these great young men will bring many awards for Romania" said Emanuela Cerchez, coordinator of the .Campion competition.
