SIVECO Romania is partner in the European research project - Open Discovery Space involving 10,000 teachers and 40,000 pupils in Europe

The eLearning - based education system has no barriers. Proof on this respect is the European research project -Open Discovery Space providing integrated access digital educational resources. The project will be implemented over a 3 years period in 2,000 schools in Europe.

Through its 20 years of expertise in developing educational content and through the impressive educational resources library, SIVECO Romania is one of the 51 partners in the Consortium that will provide educational resources to participating schools.

“It is a challenge for us to be part of this project that will benefit 10,000 teachers and 40,000 pupils aged 6-17 years. We will capitalize upon the international expertise we have in delivering educational content and we are sure our beneficiaries will be satisfied. The project will improve the teachers’ practices in all their fields of activity, combining ICT skills with innovation in pedagogy, curriculum and school organization. Open Discovery Space will stimulate the demand for innovative eLearning resources and will strengthen European integration by connecting together different cultures“, has stated Monica Florea, Manager of European Projects department within SIVECO Romania.

The 2,000 pilot schools will be selected and integrated into the project’s activities based on the innovation’s maturity and their interest in the evolution-oriented thinking and their eLearning experience. Thus, in the first phase there will be involved 100 schools having eLearning expertise (so-called eMature schools). In the second phase, an additional 500 schools will take part in the pilot tests, over a period of 9 months. In the third phase, 1,400 additional schools will be involved within the large scale validation activities, over a period of 9 months.

The project uses an educational resources database and will extend through the contribution of the educational content generated by the teachers’ communities of the project.

The Open Discovery Space portal will aggregate the already existing content resources and will also be linked to several regional and national educational portals or topic specific portals. The content will target the primary and gymnasium education, covering a variety of subjects in the curricula: sciences, mathematics, arts, ITC, social studies, foreign languages.

Upon the project’s completion, the teachers will be prepared to become innovation leaders in the institutions where they teach.
