Customs Administration and the Delegation of the European Union met on Thursday, September 19th in Skopje for the official launch of the EU-funded project that develops the "Integrated Tariff Environment - ITE" systems in Macedonia

During the meeting, experts presented the project "Integrated Tariff Environment - ITE" implemented at the Customs Administration of Macedonia funded by the National Program for transition assistance and institutions’ consolidation, provided to the countries engaged in the European Union accession.

"Integrated Tariff Environment" is a business concept that brings together multiple informatics systems for the exchange of information between the European Commission and the EU Member States. The main objective of the project is to strengthen the operational capacity of the Customs Administration of Macedonia, in accordance with EU standards, and to ensure full compatibility and interoperability with the customs’ informatics systems used in the EU.

"The overall objective is to harmonize national customs tariffs with the ones of the EU. The benefits will be felt from the moment when national economic operators will be able to access the information online, which will reduce the need to consult the legislation and will allow document identification. This means transparency, easier and faster access to information, which will have a positive impact on their daily work" said Aivo Orav, EU Ambassador in Macedonia.

He also stressed the importance of reforms in customs administration in the EU customs union process and mentioned that the European Union will continue to support the customs administration through the consolidation of operational capacity.

In his presentation, the customs director, Vanco Karov, emphasized the importance of ensuring full compatibility and interoperability of the Macedonian customs and of the EU informatics systems. He said the system will enable more efficient operations; the economical operators will be the most advantaged.

In 2012 in partnership with BULL Romania, SIVECO Romania started developing modules corresponding to the project “Integrated Tariff Environment” - ITE (TARIM, QUOTA2, Surveillance) for the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia.

Macedonian Customs Administration is currently benefiting by an eCustoms solution, made by SIVECO, a computerized system for the transit operations management (New Computerized Transit System - NCTS).

eCustoms solutions developed by SIVECO Romania were implemented at the National Customs Authority of Romania, the Customs Administration of Turkey and the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia.
