Bucharest, 26th November 2002 - The 9th GAUDEAMUS International Book Fair edition - the most important fair which focuses on the educational offer in Romania - took place at Romexpo central pavilion between 27th November - 1st December. Ranked, starting 2001, among the first two book fairs in Romania by the media and the specialists in the field, GAUDEAMUS is included in the international calendar for this kind of events.

Besides the educational offer for universities, foreign students and the latest books in the languages of the national minorities for the graduate and under-graduate system, the Ministry of Education and Research presented this year at Gaudeamus the Educational Assistant for Schools and High-schools (AEL), developed by SIVECO Romania. The visitors assisted at presentations about the latest product facilities which is now at its 3rd version.

e-Learning platform developed by MEC and SIVECO public-private partnership AEL participated already in large international projects, such as World Education Market, in May 2002 at Lisbon e-Government project exhibition, organized with Pan European Ministry Conference in November 2002 in Bucharest.

European and world school faces today a technological revolution due to the introduction of computers in the educational system - we can be proud that Romania is part of this revolution. Computerization is involved in the educational process by providing support for teaching, appraisal, practical works achievement, management and monitoring.

An integrated system assisting the teachers, the students and all those who are part of the educational process, AEL is the backbone of the software applications developed within the program for computerizing the Romanian schools. Started in 2002, the program promotes in Romania educational methods at European standards.

At the level of the European Union, the introduction of computerized methods of learning is highly appreciated and is materialized in resolutions of the Ministries Committee, who established terms and programs like e-Learning and e-School.
