Annual Gala of CCIFER awards brought an important recognition to the project "Optimized educational process in view of the knowledge society competences", a system unique in Romania using revolutionary technology and learning in cross-disciplinary context

The French-Romanian business community, through the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Romania (CCIFER), has granted Friday night, during the annual gala, the highest award to the project „Optimized educational process in view of the knowledge society competences", in the Innovation category.

The project, funded through FSE POSDRU 2007-2013 and implemented by the Ministry of National Education, through the Management Unit for Externally Financed Project, in partnership with SIVECO Romania and the National Defense University "Carol I", has impressed through "innovative and cross-disciplinary approach of the educational process in Romania" and by the fact that it is "the first worldwide project providing an integrated approach for the multi-touch type of technology within the teaching-learning process, with direct impact over 40,000 Romanian pupils and teachers".

Advancing an innovative teaching process, single in Romania, the project channels project based learning in cross-disciplinary context with aid from multi-touch devices. Instead of keyboard and mouse or handling the screen by a single finger (as in case of touch-screen equipments), the multi-touch systems are able of a more natural interaction. The educational content specific to multi-touch technology can be thus controlled with the whole palm, with several fingers, by one or several users at the same time. The goal of this solution is to improve the pupils-teachers collaboration, to involve the pupils in group activities, to motivate them to experiment, shifting from memory based learning to education based on discovery and knowledge building.

"We are impressed by the enthusiasm of the high school teachers who have quickly seen that the cross-disciplinary study, project based learning and the new technologies become the key toward the children’s mind and soul. The systems of multi-touch type represent the interface in our interaction with the digital world, while the lessons developed by means of these interactive tools and contents prove to be a real success, as they blend all the elements leading to an efficient learning", has declared Florin Ilia, Vice-president SIVECO Romania.

The project has a rich honours list, the most important awards being the Gold Medal within the competition of International Project Management Association (IPMA) and the Silver medal in the category "Most innovative new learning hardware or software product", at E-Learning Awards Gala in London.

For seven years now, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Romania (CCIFER) grants the CCIFER awards to the most outstanding projects and initiatives belonging to member companies and associations. The annual competition becomes thus a good occasion for the Chamber’s partners to present their projects in front of French-Romanian the business community.

Every year, awards go to those companies which, through their initiatives, performance and innovative spirit, distinguish themselves in the business environment, contribute to the overall economic development and this way, to a better society. The awards are granted for three categories: The best economic performance, Innovation and Social Responsibility.
