A scenario of teaching English to impaired students has won the national phase of the Open Discovery Space project

The project coordinator will be rewarded with an invitation to the Summer Academy in Greece and will enter the international phase of the competition

Teachers from 20 countries participating in the European research project Open Discovery Space (ODS) are invited in an international competition to achieve scenarios teaching lessons. The content will be used in high schools and is focused on curricular topics: science, mathematics, arts, ICT, social studies, foreign languages.

Most creative educational scenario in Romania "Let's learn English together" was already winner of the national phase of the contest, author, teacher Georgeta Namolovan will be rewarded with an invitation to the Summer Academy in Greece and will enter the international final. The project helps children with visual impairments to learn English and their parents will learn to use the program RoboBraille.

"The school is wide open to innovation. In the past decade schools have been modernized with the latest equipment and technologies to provide permanent access to visually impaired students. We organize and support activities for students to express their talent in new areas. We are involved in many activities aimed at improving school activities, promoting e-learning, and offering students access to culture. Our main objective is to integrate their educational, social and professional skills. Working with SIVECO Romania has a real importance in the utility to offer through the exchange of educational content that we can achieve through the portal ODS, thus ensuring connection with other European special schools working with visually impaired students", said prof. Georgeta Namolovan from the Special Secondary School for the Visually Impaired in Bucharest.

SIVECO Romania is a partner and national coordinator in the European research project Open Discovery Space http://portal.opendiscoveryspace.eu/ which aims to involve 10,000 teachers and 40,000 students in Europe. Also, more than 2,000 schools across Europe will be able to use a common multilingual digital lessons. Currently about 300 schools in Romania have chosen to be part of the international community.

To motivate teachers to share teaching scenarios with colleagues from Europe and to encourage the use of innovative teaching methods, teachers who are part of the ODS were invited to create an innovative teaching scenario, interesting and successful through ODS community site. The jury assessed the projects in the participating countries based on the following criteria: quality, innovation, attractiveness, ethics, connectivity with other groups / countries / people with special needs, building capacity for teamwork.

ODS project improves teacher practices in all areas of their work, combining ICT skills with innovations in pedagogy, curriculum and school organization. Open Discovery Space stimulates demand for innovative eLearning resources and engaged teachers and pupils in the development of innovative educational practices.

With 20 years experience in the development of educational content and impressive library of educational resources, SIVECO Romania is one of the 51 partners of the project consortium ODS offering educational resources.
