Bucharest, 9th September 2002 - SIVECO Romania participation to the yearly ANIAP conference aimed to present, both at conceptual and practical level, the Infokiosk solution developed by ICI - SIVECO Romania - Ericsson Romania consortium.

"Info-kiosk solution (Electronic Information Services for Citizens), developed by the consortium, meets the citizens' requirements, by creating an automatic structure that facilitates access to public interest and private information to be used for a large variety of other automated services necessary in the context of the Information Society", declared Dan Tuhar, Project Manager at SIVECO Romania, in his speech in front of Public Administration IT specialists.

Info-kiosk system makes possible tax payment, filling and submitting different types of forms, sending suggestions and complaints by remote connection, using the touch-screen Info-kiosks.

The participants in the ANIAP conference, mainly IT employees of the local Public Administration, as well as executives (mayors and vice-mayors from the whole country), were extremely interested in the practical demonstrations - on this occasion, two Info-kiosk terminals were installed, which proved how easy citizens can use them.

Description of Infokiosk solution:

The solution consists in an integrated, ortal-type system, which provides information integration from several data siurces (structured or not structured) and their unitary presentation by a Web interface.

Information view and access are differentiated depending on the user type that interacts with the system. The user can have access in the system either by the infokiosk specific interface, either by Internet, with standard browsers.

Central management component is an essential solution component, which provides activity supervision and control, periodic data unload scheduling at local level, access supervision and control (cards and users management).

The system allows the user to store public information with small update rate in his own data center (Warehouse). This approach leads to a better resource use and an optimum response time, by creating a balance between access to database and connection to services provided by public agents.

The component implementing the communication infrastructure between terminals and central node, as well as the connection and access to Internet services is very important.

The whole system is created so that the functions are easy to be accessed to persons without experience in computers.

System interface guides the users every moment, so that they don't need manuals or other help documents.

Advanced facilities are provided only to those users who were authenticated with rights to use them, in order to avoid system over-loading with inconsistent or useless requests.

The system defines clearly which data are public, private (strictly for the citizens) or private (strictly for the institution).

Access to data which are not public are protected by authentication/security mechanisms - both hard and soft; that's why unauthorized access is impossible in the conditions of an appropriate exploration. The solution is based on a smart card mechanism.

Smart cards are also used in case of infokiosk access. If the user accesses the system from a certain client (home or workplace), "electronic certificates" installed on the client's computer are used.

Every user registered in the system has certain access rights to information associated in the system. These access rights can be: view, update or delete certain information. The system constantly checks (during processes such as: synchronizing, searching, establishing hierarchies) if a certain user connected in the system has the right or not to complete a certain operation on data and information which are being processed.

Sensitive screen terminals provide classic Internet services (e-mail, browsing), which leads to a unitary approach, which does not depend on the access method (by Infokiosk or personal computer).
