E-NO FALLS project aims at improving the lives of elderly from European Union with the support of Romanian computer scientists

The aging population is one of the most important social and economic challenges facing European societies in the twenty-first century.

By 2025, over 20% Europeans will be at least 65 years old. Also, we will see a rapid growth of the number of people over 80 years old.

At European level, the number of people over 60 will grow faster than any other age group, during 2020 -2060, becoming a real challenge for any state. In 2060, Europe is expected to exceed 180 million elderly - a quarter of the current population of the continent!

The E-NO FALLS European project - FALL European Network for Prevention, Intervention & Security which runs from February 2013 to January 2016, has as main objective the integration, experiences’ homogenization and best practices at European or international level in accident prevention, intervention and safety among the elderly. By coordinating all these activities an action plan can be created for easy redeployment as easy replication of innovative solutions identified by the research conducted by consortium partners, with special focus on IT solutions.

SIVECO Romania, alongside the other partners of the project, has the role to develop methodologies, interoperability standards and IT tools to accelerate the implementation of innovative IT, prevention and effective intervention solutions for the elderly, taking into account an increased safety and independent living system as part of integrated solutions. The purpose of this concentrated effort is to facilitate and prolong independent living of elderly people with an increased risk of getting ill.

"E-NO FALLS addresses public authorities, investors, insurance companies and healthcare providers across Europe who are invited to share their knowledge, expertise, resources and experiences in order to implement and accelerate the development of innovative solutions to help elderly", said Monica Florea, Head of Research and Development, SIVECO Romania.

E-NO FALLS acts as a portal where will be concentrated all conclusions, reports and comments of target groups (search results, recommendations, market buyouts, etc.) related to accident prevention among the elderly.
