eLearning is a viable solution for the modernization of the Chinese educational system

Monday, July 28, 2008

Between the 14th and the 18th of July, took place in Beijing a workshop organized by Intel China. The event focused on presenting the newest educational technologies and on promoting the widespread access to ICT in education for all the students and teachers from the People's Republic of China. SIVECO Romania was the only foreign company invited to present its complete eLearning solution and the experience gained during the implementation of national programs of introducing IT in education. In parallel with the workshop there were organized live presentations of the complete eLearning solution AeL that enjoyed the participation of Chinese teachers and students.

In the event took part school principals, representatives from the Ministry of Education (at central and regional level), people in charge with education within the local administration and representatives of the most important companies that develop educational multimedia solutions in China.

In the workshop were presented the latest technologies, which have a major impact on increasing the quality of education and the development of specific skills for the 21st century, for pupils and teachers. Another objective of the event aimed at emphasizing the importance of using educational software in the teaching process as well as the presentation of various case studies from countries, which successfully implemented eLearning projects, among which Romania.

We presented in the workshop the eLearning solution AeL and the outcomes of the major project of introducing modern technologies in the educational system in Romania. SEI-The IT-Based Educational System represents a success story at international level. The experience that we accumulated during the implementation of this project will allow our company to develop projects at the same extent, in other countries. The presentations given as well as the live demonstrations of AeL, the integrated solution for education, were followed by concrete discussions with the representatives of the Ministry of Education in China, discussions that focused on potential partnerships between Chinese public and private companies and SIVECO”, declared Florian Ciolacu, Head of Unit –International Accounts and Partners.

China puts increasingly more emphasis on the development and promotion of alternative solutions to the classical educational process, aiming at developing new generations of students able to cope with the demands set by the new labor market. Introducing IT in education is a complex process but essential for the educational reform of any country that wants to align to the current requirements of the knowledge-based economy.

Starting with 2005, Romania became a renowned name in the eLearning domain at the World Summit for Information Society where SIVECO received the first prize for the AeL interactive lessons. The AeL lessons, which are available in all the Romanian schools, received the title of “the best educational content in the world” in a competition in which were submitted more than 20.000 projects from 168 countries.
