European businesses confident of growth

Eighty per cent of businesses across Europe forecast growth over the next 12 months

Bucharest, September 13th, 2010 - Confidence is returning to European business with four out of five companies predicting growth over the next year. (www.businessawardseurope.com/newsroom)

The European Business Awards, sponsored by HSBC, have today released the findings of their "Business As Usual' Study". SIVECO Romania joined hundreds of Europe's top business leaders in a study, which examined attitudes towards doing business over the next 12 months. Despite the doom and gloom proffered by many, the findings reveal that European businesses are extremely buoyant about the future and many predict growth beyond national averages.

New found optimism and aggressive business planning has led to over half of all companies questioned predicting minimum growth of 10% by the end of 2011.

The main conclusions of the study are as follows:

Europe is open for business and willing of economic growth

• 8 out of 10 firms expect growth within the next 12 months
• Over half of the companies forecast 10% growth or even more
• 3 out of 10 companies forecast over 20% growth.

Success and growth go beyond the internal borders

• The world is contracting - one third of the businesses search for extending on the markets outside internal borders
• One company out of five wishes to enter markets outside the European Community
• One out of three companies wished to dominate the activity sector it activates in and intends to develop
• 29% of companies consider it vital to diversify their offer of products and services
• Only 6% of European companies remain focused on the core activity.

Human capital investment is vital

• 58% invest in their business
• 24% invest in training programs and 39% of companies want to invest in the top specialists they have
• 11% will invest in infrastructure.
