Over 50 pupils with a passion for IT and their coordinating teachers gathered at the end of last week in Bran for the final of .campion 2008 competition finals.

The .campion project supported by SIVECO Virtual Center for Excellency –initiated by SIVECO Romania in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Research and Youth is a training program for performance in computer science, supported by well-known teachers. The Competition, financed by SIVECO Romania, was initiated and is coordinated by Emanuela Cerchez and Marinel Serban, teachers at the IT High School “Grigore Moisil” Iasi.

The development of the .campion program starts from the idea that information technology is viable, applicable and with concrete results in modernizing Romanian society. The initiative to organize this competition addressed to pupils from the pre-university education system, comes with SIVECO Romania ‘s strategy to contribute to the development of these young pupils’ potential in obtaining future performances in IT.

The organizers team was constantly supported by the winners of previous editions of the .campion competition, by awarded people at National and International Olympics, who offered continuous training for over 1,500 participants at the online sessions of the competition.

Three pupils have registered a maximum of 300 points but, according to regulation, The Grand Prize .campion 2008 went to the youngest of them: Cezar Mocan from the National College  “Emil Racovita” from Cluj.

An outstanding impression made the competitors from the small group, who proved a remarkable motivation and competitive spirit, achieving high scores, despite the high degree of difficulty of the proposed subjects.

The award winners received from SIVECO Romania multimedia products.

“I have great confidence in these young participants and I recognize in them the future designers of revolutionary technologies.

I congratulate the winners and I am convinced that we will hear again from many of the current participants at the .campion finals, in their role of future creators and promoters of new technologies. I challenge them not to focus only on the programming component.

At this time, technology is omnipresent – in art, medicine, architecture etc.

The .campion contest represents an extraordinary chance the youngsters can capitalize on, namely by reaching performance in IT to become able to adapt to future changes on the labor market, thus being prepared to successfully use technologies that do not exist to this date”, said Radu Jugureanu, AeL eContent Department Manager within SIVECO Romania.
