How to learn a foreign language easier

Thursday, November 26, 2009

The eMulticult project aims at developing a virtual environment for learning foreign languages based on understanding of and getting acquainted with the cultural context of the respective country.

Bucharest, November 26th, 2009 - Knowing at least two foreign languages after school completion is a goal more and more desirable at European level. The project eMulticult falls within the Multilingualism Strategy endorsed by the European Commission and proposes a new way to learn a foreign language easier.

SIVECO Romania coordinates this project, aiming to create a virtual environment for language learning based on the understanding of and getting acquainted with the cultural context of the country. The entire interactive educational content is based on taking over the results of the researches and studies done by partners, that will be transformed, through specific IT tools, into educational packages for various beneficiaries (pupils, students, adults, formal or informal educational networks).

The project aims at increasing people's adaptability to the requirements of the intercultural environment, a context generated mostly by the increased mobility of the labor force and the extension of the scope activities of multinationals.

"The final product of the project will be an educational portal to be based on an educational model developed for multicultural environments. The educational portal will include: teaching management tools; tools for developing digital content; databases means for interactive dissemination of knowledge; virtual collaborative environments for ensuring information exchange between researchers; dialogue and communication environments shared by all the actors of the teaching/learning- training process", said Cristian Fota, Project Manager, SIVECO Romania.

Partners to the eMULTICULT project (contract no. 91068/14.09.2007) are the Christian University "Dimitrie Cantemir", National Defense University "Carol I" and AltFactor, while the Contracting Authority is the National Center for Programs Management (Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation). The project has a total budget of 2,295,975 lei, and runs in the period of 2007-2010.
