Bucharest, 5th July 2007 - From 9 to 15 July, SIVECO Romania will organize in Brasov, the first training session within The Intel®Teach Program – Teaching in the Knowledge Society. The 19 participant teachers, chosen based on a rigorous selection, will receive at the end of the course the „Senior Teacher” diploma granting them the trainer status.

The future instructors will be trained by Carrie Baker and Judi Yost, representatives of the ICT (The Institute of Computer Technology) and Otilia Pacurari, a professional with an extensive experience in the long life teacher’s training.

The training Program of the teaching staff Intel®Teach is a component of the Intel® Education Initiative, whose main objective aims at optimizing the teaching-learning process by efficiently using technology.

The knowledge society implies a teaching process centered on the pupil. The Intel®Teach Program - Teaching in the Knowledge Society aims at providing solutions for the optimization of the teaching process, by presenting the latest ways of introducing and using IT&C solutions in education. Thus, the teachers will learn to benefit from the multiple advantages of using computers and Internet as tools for research, communication and development of pupils’ creativity.

”It is important that the Romanian teachers benefit from the latest and most efficient training programs. The Intel®Teach Program – Teaching in the Knowledge Society provides the teachers with a modern means of addressing the pupils, stress being laid mostly on introducing technology into the teaching-learning process and on providing solutions for increasing the attractivity of classes and the stimulation of young people’s interest for study”, said Dana Vladoiu, Training Project Coordinator, SIVECO Romania.

The development of new competencies for the teachers represents an important component of the IT base Education System in Romania. Thus, in the next three years, over 60,000 teaching staff will benefit from training within the Intel®Teach Program – Teaching in the Knowledge Society. As a result of the training, the teachers will learn how to bring the curricula in line with modern standards and how to use the IT&C tools in order to be able to efficiently evaluate the pupils’ activity.
