A new international success for SIVECO Romania: gold and silver at the international project management championship

Thursday, August 8, 2013
The jury of International Project Management Association (IPMA) competition designated as single finalists two of SIVECO Romania's projects within "Project Excellence in Medium-Sized Projects" category

SIVECO Romania has achieved a new international success for both Romanian research field and educational system, having been declared double-finalist within IPMA competition, "Project Excellence in Medium-Sized Projects" category.

The achievement is even greater as this performance was registered for both projects submitted by SIVECO within the competition (from within the dozens developed by the company’s eLearning team): "Introducing multi-touch technology in Romanian high schools" (http://proiecte.pmu.ro/web/transdisciplinarfse) and "Development of educational interactive multimedia content for Kazakhstan educational system".

The IPMA competition represents the world cahmpionship of all types of projects (not only IT and educational projects), the jury evaluating the applications from the project management point of view.

"Words fail me to express both the honour and pride that Romanian expertise and creativity in the education and research fields have received such a recognition that I had honestly not hoped for. The fact that both our projects are declared finalists and moreover, the only finalists at their category, means that we are competing with ourselves for the first and the second positions, the third place not being awarded. Therefore, our eLearning team will be declared International Champion and Vice Champion at the same time. I do not recall another exemple of any Romanian team, from any other activity field to have accomplished this performance in the last 50 years. From the Montreal Olimpics in 1976 when both Nadia Comăneci and Teodora Ungureanu were rewarded gold and silver medals, I am not aware of any other Romanian team, from any other sector, to have been rewarded the first two places at any international competition. Due to this achievement, the entire world will know that a Romanian team builds projects considered to be the best worldwide. This recognition is equally the merit of our parteners in both projects: UMPFE, UNAP, trainers, writers of curriculum, guides, evaluation studies and other materials, screen writers, teachers, researchers, IT specialists from Romania", declared Radu Jugureanu, eContent Manager at SIVECO Romania.

Previous acknowledgements regarding the value of the two finalist projects in the IPMA competition came even from the beginning of the year: both were finalists in London, at the European IT & Software Excellence Awards 2013 (http://www.iteawards.com/content/european-it-software-excellence-awards-2013-finalists-announced) – Multitouch Project at the "Software Innovation Solution of the Year" category and Kazakhstan project at "Government Solution of the Year" category.

The IPMA Award is a major accomplishment anywhere in the world, for any company. The acknowledgement received from the most respected authority in the project management field (from a wide range of areas, not only the IT&C field) proves not only the value and the wide social impact of the two projects, but mostly their high level of quality, at international standards.

The award winners Gala will take place at the World Congress of the International Project Management Association, under the patronage of the Croatian President, at Dubrovnik, between 30th of September - 3rd of October 2013.

SIVECO Romania enters for the seventh time the international final of the companies with the best projects in the world. In 2012 it was awarded finalist for NCTS-New Computerized Transit System project, developed and implemented at the Customs Administration in Turkey.

Two projects of great complexity, having millions of beneficiaries, entered the 2011 final competition: Integrated Health Information System in Romania for the National Health Insurance House and the project New Computerized Transit System.

In 2009, the solution developed by SIVECO Romania for the IT system that is functional at The Payments and Intervention Agency for Agriculture received the same distinction. In 2010, two components of the “Knowledge-based economy, eComunitate Portal” project and “The IT&C training program for schools and businesses” have received the finalist status and in 2007, the IT-based educational system in Romania was selected in IPMA Gala.
