The award has been granted in Warsaw at the European Entrepreneurship Colloquium 2011 which has nominated 25 successful European entrepreneurs with outstanding results

Bucharest, 2nd August 2011 - The best European entrepreneurs have been rewarded for innovation, vision, courage and dedication to international business within the New European Champions Project. Irina Socol, President and CEO of SIVECO Romania, has received this honorable award, along with managers of companies from Croatia, Russia, Ukraine, Slovenia, Poland, Latvia, Hungary, Macedonia, Czech Republic and Croatia.

The event has been organized by the European Forum for Entrepreneurship Research (EFER) in collaboration with IESE Business School in Barcelona and the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) in Warsaw.

The project aims to identify entrepreneurs who have succeeded in building successful companies in Central and Eastern Europe and who have expanded their business into international markets. "Europe has great and talented entrepreneurs who are ready to develop and grow beyond their country borders and to become competitive in an increasingly global world. We congratulate the winners of this competition who have proved that European entrepreneurs are innovative and internationally competitive. We wished to honor these outstanding efforts and initiate a process of developing local teaching materials on entrepreneurship that would set an example of best practices and help to educate our next generations. Entrepreneurial education has an outstanding impact when it refers to local success cases with which students from the region can identify. We will develop a case study on each of the 25 prize winners and publish a book to be used in universities, business schools, and in entrepreneurial organizations worldwide, but specifically in Central- and Eastern Europe. This content will help entrepreneurship professors and teachers to strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit in young people and provide them with the tools that they will need on their way to become internationally successful entrepreneurs", declared Bert Twaalfhoven, President and Founder of EFER.

"I am honored to be among the "New European Champions" in entrepreneurship. Here, in SIVECO Romania, we did great things for the past 19 years, with lots of passion and determination. Our solutions are used today by millions of users in countries on three continents. We wish to become a regional leader in providing top integrated solutions. In Romania, our IT solutions increase the efficiency regarding the activity of public and private companies such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, MCSI, Ministry of Labor and Ministry of Finance. The references we have acquired in complex projects such as the ones implemented at CNAS, APIA, APDRP, ANOFM, the Customs are our strong arguments when we say that we have the expertise in running complex projects, of international scale and having an outstanding social impact", stated Irina Socol, President and CEO of SIVECO Romania.

In 2010, Irina Socol has received the trophy "Prix scientifique" in a ceremony organized at the Palace of the European Parliament in Brussels, being the first business woman in Romania awarded in the competition "European female Entrepreneurship".

Statistics show that, at the level of the European Union, only 30% of women are entrepreneurs, with the EC authorities expressing an increased interest for eliminating such differences.
