This is the third international award recognizing the complexity of the IT solution implemented at the Payments and Intervention Agency for Agriculture

Bucharest, 25th of July 2011 - The performance of the IT solution implemented at the Payments and Intervention Agency for Agriculture (APIA) have been acknowledged within the international competition Computerworld Honors Program, which has recently taken place in Washington DC.

The IT solution implemented by SIVECO Romania has been awarded with the title 2011 Laureate at the "Emerging Technology" category.

APIA manages funds of Billion of Euros using the IT - based eAgriculture applications developed by SIVECO Romania, the leader of the software houses on the Romanian market. The project developed by SIVECO Romania for APIA ensures farmers' easy access to the electronic information managed by the system, reduces the time for checking documents, and by default, increases the degree of transparency and efficacy.

During the period 2007-2011 by means of the IT system in APIA, almost 4 billion Euro worth of aid has been paid, representing the highest degree of absorption of European funds by an institution in Romania. Besides, Romania is the second country in Europe in terms of number of farmers (over 1.2 million), while the agricultural area of 9 million hectares is among the largest in EU (comparable with the one of Germany, Spain, or Italy), implying a huge volume of data to be managed.

The complexity and importance of the project developed at APIA has been recognized in other international competitions, too. Thus, in 2010, the integrated solution developed by SIVECO Romania for APIA has received the title of "Winner of the European IT Excellence Award 2010", while in 2009 it has been rewarded by the International Project Management Association.

"The IT project developed for the Payments and Intervention Agency for Agriculture has been carried out together with the APIA specialists, and it is an extremely complex one, with a dramatic impact for Romania. Awarding it is a proof of an outstanding performance, the recognition of huge efforts being made in running one of the largest IT projects in Romania", has stated Gabriel Lospa, eAgriculture Line of Business Director at SIVECO Romania.
