IPMA, the global authority in Project Management recognizes the project implemented by SIVECO in Malta as an example of excellence in education

The grand jury of the prestigious International Project Excellence Awards, organized by the International Project Management Association (IPMA), recently published a list of the best projects in the world. One of the four special recognitions - Striving for Excellence - was granted to the project implemented by SIVECO Romania in Malta. The project aims at improving the Maltese educational system, by introducing eLearning tools in the learning processes..

The eLearning project implemented by SIVECO is a strategically one for Malta, being a basic component within the country’s educational reform. The importance of the project is even greater, since Malta is among the European countries with an advanced usage and effectiveness of eGovernment solutions, implemented and operational at all levels of public administration.

"We are happy and proud that the project implemented for the Ministry of Education in Malta has been selected as an example of excellence by the leading authority in Project Management, IPMA. What other higher recognition could confirm the value that the Romanian teachers and IT specialists bring in international projects and the quality of Romanian IT solutions? We are confident that we are on the right track, especially since it is for the eighth time that IPMA recognizes the quality of the projects carried out by SIVECO. All we do is meant to change mentalities and to drive progress for millions of people around the world, generating a clear cognitive profit for the educational projects", says Radu Jugureanu, AeL eContent Manager within SIVECO Romania.

The project, implemented by SIVECO for the Ministry of Education in Malta, consisted in the creation of a suite of eLearning solutions, composed of a vast library of digital educational content for Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, English, Maltese, Geography and History, a training program for teachers and a content editor that allows teachers to create their own lessons, tailored to students’ needs. The digital lessons include animations, educational games with high pedagogical value, complex simulations and scientific experiments, aimed to contribute, in an innovative manner, to the process of improving the methods of teaching, learning and assessment in Malta.

In 2013, SIVECO Romania was a two times winner within the international competition organized by IPMA, receiving the Golden and Bronze medal for two eLearning projects, in the “Project Excellence in Medium-Sized Projects” category.

The International Project Excellence Award’s Jury meeting was held on 25-26 July in Brussels and brought together representatives from Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, China and Romania. The prizes will be handed to winners within a special ceremony at the 29th IPMA World Congress, which will take place on September 29 in Panama.

Organized by IPMA, the International Project Management Excellence Award aims to increase the recognition of projects from different countries, different industries and different organizations and to motivate project teams to develop and improve project management.

Established in 1965 in Switzerland, IPMA is the leading authority on competent project, program and portfolio management (PPPM) an important Federation of over 55 Member Associations, spreading from Europe to Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Australia, and North and South America.
