SIVECO supports excellence in computer science

The most talented high school students from Romania competed in the most prestigious national computer science competition

Between April 4 and 7, Pitești city hosted the National Informatics Olympiad to which attended the most talented high school students in computer science from the country. During the two phases of the competition, over 300 students had the opportunity to prove their knowledge and skills in computer science in an effort to get on the podium.

The competition coordinated by the Ministry of National Education was organized by Argeș County School Inspectorate with the cooperation of the National College "Alexandru Odobescu", of the National College "Ion.C Brătianu", the Technical College "Costin D. Neniţescu" the Theoretical High School "Ion Barbu", the Technical College "Dimitri Dima" and the Technical High School Dacia from Pitești. At the award ceremony held at the University "Constantin Brâncoveanu" from Pitești, over 150 young people received awards and medals as recognition of their efforts to achieve excellence in computer science, after a year of hard work.
National Informatics Olympiad represents a first step in the selection of the best students whom will participate in international computer science competitions. It continues these days with the run off that will put the selected young people from the first phase on new tie break tests to identify those with the highest success chances on international level.
Competition’s tests were judged by a Central Committee composed of specialist teachers and students, former International Olympics, chaired by Academic Lecturer Radu Eugen Boriga.
SIVECO offered this year’s awards consisting in the latest technology tablets to the five winners for each of the IX -XII grades: Ioan-Bogdan Iordache (National College "Frații Buzești" from Craiova, IX grade) Paul-Andrei Gramatovici ( National Computer Science College "Tudor Vianu" from Bucharest, X grade), Rareș Darius Buhai (National College "Liviu Rebreanu" from Bistrița, XI grade), Alexander Velea (Computer Science High School "Tiberiu Popoviciu" Cluj- Napoca, XI grade) and Mihai Gheorghe (International Computer Science High School from Bucharest, XII grade).
"We are proud that SIVECO keeps the tradition going by supporting these exceptional young people within a Romanian elite competition. We consider it to be our duty to support school performance and to get involved in performance education, investing in the future computer science specialists of the country", said Emil Dragomirescu, Program Manager, SIVECO Romania.
SIVECO Romania has a long tradition in sustaining educational events such as the National Olympics and inter-counties programming contests to discovery new talents in computer science.
