SIVECO Romania awarded the most talented young Romanian IT specialists

Over 400 students from all over the country have competed within the 2013 edition of the National Olympiad of Informatics

During March 30th - April 6th, Timişoara hosted the most talented high school students in the informatics field, coming from all the counties to compete in the most important informatics competition – the National Olympiad of Informatics. During the 5 days of competition, over 400 pupils from the IX-XII grades competed in order to prove their excellent skills and IT knowledge.

Organized by the Timiş County School Inspectorate within Grigore Moisil Theoretical High School in Timişoara and the National College “C.D. Loga” Timişoara and coordinated by the Ministry of National Education, the prestigious competition awarded the first 12 students according to their results, from each of the IX-XII grades. Following the organization of the barrage phase, the best 20 students were selected to be part of the national lot, and subsequently going through additional barrage tests in order for those who will represent Romania this year in the international informatics competitions to be chosen.

"It has been an intense competition week, during which the students put their emotions aside and involved totally into the competition trials, competing in developing the most efficient and innovative IT solutions. The talented youngsters used a lot of imagination besides the technical competences and through the results achieved, they proved us once more how much passion and effort they have invested throughout the school year and during the intermediary phases for entering the national phase of the Olympiad of Informatics. We expect that at this year’s edition of the International Olympiad of Informatics to achieve a performance at least similar to the one registered last year, when our students stepped on the podium four times, getting no less than 3 gold medals. For the organization of this important event, we have had several institutions by our side, among which SIVECO that has come out as a constant supporter of the National Olympiad of Informatics and implicitly of the talented youngsters, the future IT specialists of Romania", stated Prof. Dr. Cornel Petroman, Feneral School Inspector of the Timis County School Inspectorate.

The competition trials have been judged by a Central Commission, coordinated by Univ. Prof. Viorel Negru, PhD, composed of numerous prestigious professors throughout the country from pre-university and university education, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Education.

The competition received support from SIVECO Romania, which granted awards consisting in latest generation tablets, to the 4 winners, who ranked first in each of the IX-XII grades: Vlad-Andrei Tărniceru (National Informatics College in Piatra Neamţ, IX grade), Rareş Darius Buhai (National College „Liviu Rebreanu” in Bistriţa, X grade), Andrei Heidelbacher (National College „C.D. Loga” in Timişoara, XI grade), Vlad Alexandru Gavrilă (Theoretical International  Informatics High School in Bucharest, XII grade).

"We were happy to see this year too youngsters passionate about informatics from all over the country, to meet again with winners from previous years, while the competition’s results have showed us that each great region of the country has given at least one award winner on the podium. We have only praising words for the teaching staff who has initiated and infused the passion for informatics to so many young people, but also for their talent and efforts in reaching the highest level of performance in a field that has become in the past years, possibly the most important growth engine of the efficiency of organizations from any activity sector", stated Florin Ilia, Vice-President SIVECO Romania.

SIVECO Romania has a long tradition in supporting the educational events in the sphere of mathematics and informatics, such as the National Mathematical Olympiad, the ".campion" competition, but also inter-county programming competitions, that represent useful stages in preparing the pupils qualified in the national Olympiads, contributing to discovering and encouraging IT-based talents.
