SIVECO Academy, an opportunity granted to young people

"SIVECO Academy" is a training program aiming at training groups of students from the great universities, at high quality and performance standards, in the field of software engineering and economic IT.

"Through SIVECO Academy, we intend to build a bridge between study and practice, a bridge so much necessary today for the young graduates. In principle, it is an improvement program for the young people in the IT sector, and at the same time, an opportunity for the graduates and students desiring a career in this field. The aim of becoming a part of the SIVECO team is equivalent to integrating into a prestigious company, which has always been open to youngsters, granting them the trust we consider they deserve", said Daniela Bichir, Vice-President Quality Assurance and Human Resources in SIVECO Romania.

The program provides students with scholarships, theoretical training and practice in IT, software design and development, provided they attend also all university courses. The most valuable people are subsequently given the chance to join the best software specialists in Romania working in national and international projects.

In 2012, 15 young people were included in the program, out of which 11 have been employed at the end of the training process. The program SIVECO Academy has started in 2006.

The cross-disciplinary projects of multi-touch type improve teacher-students collaboration

"Optimized educational process in the view of knowledge society’s competences", implemented by the Ministry of National Education, through the Management Unit of Externally Funded Projects, in partnership with SIVECO Romania and National Defense University "Carol I" received the award Project of the Year in the category "Best project with EU funding".

More precisely, it is about an innovative teaching process, unique in Romania, which uses project-based learning in a cross-disciplinary context with support from multi-touch devices. Instead of keyboard and mouse or screen handling using one finger, (as in case of touch-screen equipments), the multi-touch systems are able of a more natural interaction. The educational content specific to multi-touch technology can thus be controlled with the whole palm, with several fingers, by one or several visitors at the same time. The goal of this solution is to improve teachers - pupils’ collaboration, to involve pupils in group activities, to motivate them to experiment, making the move from memorization – based learning to learning based on discovery and building knowledge.

The education project was entirely carried out with Romanian expertise, know-how technology.

"The multi-touch systems represent the interface in our interaction with the digital world. They can be successfully used in absolutely any field of activity, but very good results were obtained so far mostly in education", declares Florin Ilia, Vice-President SIVECO Romania.

As quality proof of the activities implemented the project has already a rich scoreboard, the recent award being the third in a month’s time. In October, the project "Optimized educational process in the view of knowledge society’s competences" received the Gold Medal within the International Project Management Association (IPMA) competition, in the category of medium-sized projects, while just a few days ago, it was granted the Silver medal in the category "Most innovative new learning hardware or software product", at the E-Learning Awards Gala in London.
