The Romanian market presents interest for strategic investors

Monday, September 26, 2005

Bucharest, September 26 2005 - The American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham Romania) together with SIVECO Romania and Intel Corporation have recently organized a business-mixer regarding foreign investments on the Romanian IT market.

George Copos, Vicepremier, Zolt Nagy, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ministry, the representative of the American Embassy in Bucharest, Mr. Ben Rockwell and also numerous important personalities for the Romanian business community attended the event. The special guest of the event was Brian L. Harrison, Vicepresident and General Manager of Intel Corporation for Europe, Middle East and Africa, during a short business trip in Romania.

Mr. Harrison declared that: “by encouraging innovation in the education field, Intel Coporation, through its investment fund, Intel Capital, announced in July a major investment in SIVECO Romania, one of the most important learning software provider”.

The representatives of the AmCham Board, Ms. Anca Harasim, executive manager at AmCham and Mr. Radu Enache, president of the IT commission of AmCham underlined the fact that with initiatives such as business-mixers, the American Chamber of Commerce wants to salute the investments made by its members and wants to encourage the business community to continue investing in Romania.

Through the voice of its members, the Romanian Government stresses again the fact that the near integration of Romania in the European community determines adaptation to the international market’s requirements and gives IT projects high priority for all organizations in Romania.

Mr. Ben Rockwell, Deputy Economic Councilor at the USA Embassy, stated that more American companies are present on the Romanian market, and that recent investments prove the confidence in the Romanian economy, especially in the software industry. “Intel’s investment is what we call “a good housekeeping seal of approval” (guaranteed 100%), which will allow the company to maintain its leading position, both on internal and international markets. With its investments in education and infrastructure, Romania has already set the foundation for a dynamic and prosper IT sector.  Foreign investments such as this one show that this type of strategy works. The investment in intelligence lasts and develops through time and does not depend on the trend of the workforce market. I know that leaders like Ms. Socol and SIVECO Romania will prove a force that determine economic growth for Romania, in the following years”.

Acknowledging AmChamand the business community’s permanent support for their trust, Ms. Socol, general manager of SIVECO Romania declared that “SIVECO Romania will yield on this excellent opportunity of development, proving that Romania specialists are able to open roads for high technology”.
