SIVECO Romania rewards students who are interested in scientific research

SIVECO Romania will grant this year merit scholarships for university students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMF), University of Bucharest who manifest a special interest for scientific research. The awards for excellence in providing SIVECO consists of two scholarships, one for each license - Mathematics, Computer Science.

Radu Jugureanu, eContent department director at SIVECO Romania, said: "Through this program, SIVECO Romania supports unconditional young people who are involved in research projects. We support and encourage them because our society needs development,  simple ideas but valuable."  

Scholarship of Excellence SIVECO is a private scholarship founded by SIVECO Romania, during an academic year (10 months). The amount of scholarships for the academic year 2008-2009 is 5000 lei (500 lei per month).

Deadline for sending email requests to join in the competition is October 24 , 2008, 20:00.

In the competition for getting the scholarship may attend any student enrolled in the II or III studies license, in the academic year 2008-2009. Possession of any other state scholarships are not an impediment to enroll in this competition.

Students must send a request via email at, accompanied by a CV and an essay (for max. 2 pages) in which to be highlighted interest and Scientific performance of the applicant. The jury for granting scholarships may request additional information.

Applications for scholarship will be reviewed by a panel appointed by SIVECO Romania. In the process of selection will participate and representatives of the IMF.

Selection criteria includes, but are not limited to, the following elements:

  • The applicants personal projects (scientific papers, software, etc.), no matter of the stage which was
  • Results obtained by the applicant in student competitions
  • The grades obtained from examinations of applicants to college considered relevant to the scholarship.

Based of applications submitted, jury will select a short list of applicants. The latter will participate in a free discussion with members of the jury, after which it will designate the two winners of scholarships for the year 2008-2009.
