SIVECO Romania sustains the initiatives of “Be intelligent, do not be violent” campaign

Bucharest, 19th of May 2006 –Within the campaign “Be intelligent, don’t be violent” Harnaj high-school had organized a seminar on fighting violence theme. The verbal, physical and psychical violence effects were analyzed together with the students by the psychologist and the headmaster of the high school, the General Director of Municipal Police - Marian Tutilescu, the ISMB Representative Inspector - Simona Crăciun, Mihaela Florescu and Maria Munteluţă, and SIVECO Romania representatives The pupils made a beautiful surprise to everybody singing a hip-hop hymn specially created for this project (available on website:

"Be intelligent, do not be violent" is an awareness campaign that aims to make people get involve in the fight against violence in schools. Its goal is to reduce violence in schools and targets pupils, teachers and parents.

Within the campaign, in order to make students focus their energy on positive things, Municipal Police and School Inspectorate of Bucharest, in partnership with SIVECO Romania launched the “Intelligence Olympics”, with the aim to discover, promote and support new talents in all fields of the Romanian educational system.

By participating in one of the Intelligence Olympics’ sections: photography, inventions, publicity creation, journalism, haute couture, literary creation, students can win awards of 10,000-euro in total value. As an active participant in the educational process and initiator of numerous educational actions, SIVECO Romania brings a significant contribution in ensuring equal access to education and information.

“The school, street and family are equally important for youth education and this is the reason why are not only present in the computer science labs but also we are constantly involved into all issues with regard to education. We truly believe that violence is the result of lack education and information. Thus, we have supported, got involved and started a series of educational initiatives that aimed to improve the educational process and stimulate the interest and participation of all those involved in this process in order to train young generation to be an active element of the society. We are convinced that by ensuring equal chances to information and education and by stimulating young people to study we can fight against social exclusion and delinquency in schools” declares Irina Socol, General Manager of SIVECO Romania.

SIVECO Romania’s initiative to support and involve itself in this campaign continues with:

  • A “Benjamin Franklin” High School meeting with the Criminologist Chief of the Municipal Police;
  • The “Be intelligent, do not be violent!” March (On 1st of June 2006)  with the participation of 1000 students from Bucharest schools and high-schools;
  •  “Be intelligent, do not be violent! Gala Awards on 10th June, at Children Palace from Bucharest.
