SIVECO Romania takes part in the International Summit “Information Educational System”

Tbilisi, Georgia, 11th October 2007 – Today starts the CIS “Educational Information System” Summit. Its main objectives are the presenting of the most recent innovations as well as the exchange of information regarding the implementing of the most up-to-date information technologies in the educational system in CIS and other European countries. The organizers of the Summit are The Ministry of Education and Research from Georgia and HP.

Our future depends on the young generation. The state has the obligation to guarantee a proper level of education, by using the newest information technologies. That is why, our mission of introducing ICT in schools represents a major responsibility in all these countries, and we do our best that from this day on to provide all the necessary resources so that our children can obtain the knowledge and the abilities necessary for using ICT at international standards ” – declared at the opening of the Summit, Alexandru Lomaia –Minister of Education and Research in Georgia.

In the Summit will participate the representatives of the K12 education system from Georgia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Belarus and Uzbekistan. In the event are invited the most important companies from the IT market, the most important IT experts (with a great experience in developing educational projects), as well as the representatives of companies that take part actively in creating technological educational solutions for the teaching system.

Specialized in the development and implementation of complex software solutions, SIVECO Romania was invited to share with the audience, its experience in dealing with major national and international projects. The educational software solutions that SIVECO Romania created received numerous awards: “Best practice in eGovernment” - Brussels 2001, in the eGovernment European Conference “From Theory to practice”; The special award in the category of research and development, granted by the European Commission –IST Prize (for developing the AeL Learning Management System). The educational software solutions created by SIVECO Romania are implemented in over 4800 schools.

For the next 2 days, there will be presentations of the ICT projects that are already implemented in other educational systems in different countries. During the sessions the participants will analyze the main challenges regarding the introducing of ICT in the educational system in the CIS, their effects in the near future as well as the methods of overcoming them.

During the exhibition, HP will present the demo versions of the educational software created by Microsoft, Canonical and SIVECO Romania, education software that is already used by some educational systems in other countries.

About the Ministry of Education and Research from Georgia and the “Deer Leap” Project

In 2005 the Ministry of Education and Research launched the special program “Deer Leap”. This 4-year program has as main objective the endowment of all the schools in Georgia with computers, and represents a complex project of implementing ICT in the education process, as well as connecting the schools to Internet.
